Lately, I’ve been thinking about sharing old photos from when I was living in America. Back then, I cooked and baked every day because I was living with my parents and Meiko. In exchange for staying with them, I earned my keep by preparing daily meals and keeping the house clean. It was a great setup—my dad would bring home groceries or I’d have them delivered, and I’d cook (mostly Korean) dishes for everyone. I started cooking Korean food because my first boyfriend was Korean, and he taught me a lot of dishes. Later, I learned even more from Maangchi, a popular Korean cook who shares her recipes on YouTube and her website. I naturally gravitated toward Korean food because of how many healthy ingredients it incorporates. A DIY Afternoon Tea Tower Now this has nothing to do with Korean food but one of my favorite memories from that time was an afternoon tea date I arranged at my house with my friend Vicky. I wanted something elegant and Bridgerton-inspired, so I decided to make my own tea tower from scratch. I went to Dollar Tree and picked up: Three plates of the same design in three different sizes Two glass candle holders E3000 super glue I carefully stacked and glued the plates together from smallest to largest, using the candle holders as spacers between them. After letting the tower dry for a few days, I washed it really well and got started on making the finger foods. For our tea date, I made a selection of homemade finger foods and carefully arranged them on the plates. The whole setup felt so charming—exactly the kind of aesthetic I was going for! It was such a fun little project, and I loved how something as simple as a DIY tea tower could turn an ordinary afternoon into something special. I’d love to do this again! |
