I'm not sure who reads my blog, but if anyone has been trying to get in touch with me, I can’t really communicate at the moment. My phone with my LINE account is broken, and since I can't see the screen, I can't transfer my account to another device. I also had LINE on my iPad, but it randomly signed out, so I can't contact anyone via LINE right now. On top of that, my Wi-Fi was tethered to my phone, so I don’t have a connection for that either. I do want to get my phone fixed, but right now, I need to renew my visa, and the law firm I use for that is expensive. So, it’s going to take some time before I can sort everything out. If you need to reach me, please email me at arinahg@yahoo.com or send me a DM on Instagram. My Instagram account is linked on this blog—if you don’t see it on the left side of the screen, try scrolling down and clicking 'View Web Version' to access it. I hear notifications on my phone when I get LINE messages, but I just can't access them. On a different note, I wanted to share a quick update—my grandfather passed away the other day. He was the last grandfather I had left. My mother’s father passed away when she was just 13, and her stepfather passed many years ago due to old age. This recent loss was my dad’s father. He was always known as a strict and hard man, but in his later years, after developing dementia, he became soft and gentle. During that time, he was able to meet my daughter, and it was such a touching sight—like watching two young children together. He was so kind to her. I always respected my grandfather, but there were times when I would get frustrated with him (before his dementia). Still, I truly believe that my dad's strong and admirable character came from him, and for that, I respect him even more. My grandfather also grew up in the South and built a strong reputation as a highly regarded teacher. Being a man of color in that environment must have been incredibly challenging, which may have contributed to his strict and tough nature. But I think it’s remarkable that he was able to accomplish so much and care for so many people during such a turbulent time. I will miss him deeply and wish I had talked to him more, but I’m grateful to have known such a proud and impactful man. I also pray my grandmother is able to rest better now—she was such a devoted wife to him for over 60 years, even through the challenges of dementia. I’ll miss you, Granddaddy. |
