My 3rd "in-person" Omiai~~July 27, 2024

After the disastrous omiai (marriage meeting) I had the other day, I wasn't sure what to expect from the next one. This time, the meeting took place at a new hotel lounge. The venue was bustling with activity, and it seemed like many other omiai were happening there as well. I noticed numerous awkward and nervous couples, each wrapped up in their own initial conversations.

My date, however, was early and waiting near the entrance of the lounge. He was dressed in a nice suit and looked very handsome. Definitely a Japanese man.

I finally met him, I could tell he was extremely nervous and fidgety. I immediately thought he might be neurodivergent or perhaps just really socially awkward. Like I said in my last post, you never truly know what someone is like until you meet them in person.

The beginning of the date was quite strange and awkward. He seemed uncomfortable, and I found myself feeling a bit uneasy as well. However, as the date progressed, things started to get easier. He spoke a little English, which helped bridge the gap between us, and I learned many things about him.

By the end of the date, my heart felt a little warm. Despite the rocky start, I could see he was a genuine person. With some time left before my babysitter had to leave, I decided to walk home and reflect on the day.

I was okay with meeting him again, and my counselor got back to me the next day to tell me he wanted to continue dating me. She told me that she forwarded my number to him and that he would call me at 21:00 to set up a second date. So, he called, and we agreed to go out on August 4th to an aquarium with my daughter.

Speaking of which, after I got Moemi back from the babysitter, I took her to the family restaurant behind our apartment and bought us some shaved ice!
