The other day I learned that the Hotel Gajoen Tokyo has a restaurant inside that serves afternoon-tea! Me being an afternoon-tea lover, I was so happy to learn of a new place where I could enjoy this relaxing past time! Side Note: If you're unsure of what "afternoon tea" is (just like I was a few years ago), it's a light set meal usually served between morning and afternoon hours. It comes with a variety of different pastries, as well as savory finger foods and of course your choice of delicious tea. Some places also pair your afternoon tea with a glass of champagne for an extra charge. The afternoon tea custom originated from the wealthy social classes in England during the 1840's. Fast forward to modern times, afternoon tea is viewed more for special occasions, a relaxing date, women's association ( This is especially true. Whenever I have afternoon tea in Tokyo, there is always a group of older or younger women; chatting, taking pictures or having some type of meeting. With the older women dressed in fancy kimono's and the younger women in their Sunday dresses in the middle of the work week, it's safe to assume they're housewives enjoying their time together before going home to resume their family duties.), just a casual visit, or for afternoon tea enthusiasts! The restaurant is called “ Kanade Terrace”. The afternoon tea is ¥3,000 for one person. They also have an upcoming Halloween themed afternoon tea that starts October 1st!
