I had a pretty busy day yesterday, at 10:30 AM I met my friend Makoto-san at Machida station and headed into Tokyo to the Tsukiji Fish Market. This is one of the super touristy things I've done in a while so I was pretty excited. Because we arrived late (they open the market extremely early!) we weren't able to look at all the seafood but we did see the aftermath! lol~ Once we arrived at Ginza the store illuminations and decorations immediately caught our eyes! Everything screamed Christmas! It was almost as if the stores were competing with who had the best store front decor. So we headed to a nearby department store basement (the basement is usually where they sell food and other things you can consume) so we could find mochi! We also picked up traditional Japanese pastries (which taste like cake fondant), along with our mochi and then headed to a cafe to rest and have tea. After finishing our tea, we headed to the stationary store "Itoya" to pick out New Years cards for friends and family and I looked at cute 2017 schedule planners that I may want to buy for the New Year!
Nerikiri After Ginza we headed to Shiodome just in time for the light show! I originally thought they just had Illuminations and that was it, but apparently they also had the illumination show and I got all of it on video. I will try to upload it later. Tokyo really goes all out on Christmas!
~ After the show, we took more pictures and then had snacks and wine at Pronto. We were still full from eating so much mochi and nerikiri. ^ ^
I had a wonderful and magical day.
Goodnight!!!!
