Atami Houestu Onsen!! Atami, Japan!! ~~Dec 4, 2016

This was my first trip to Atami, Japan! I stayed at the ryokan (traditional Japanese inn), Atami Houestu with my friend Makoto. We had so much fun and it was such a gorgeous place. The ryokan had 3 private natural onsen (Hot springs) and one was located outside. They serve dinner and breakfast, and I have to say, the dinner was delicious but the breakfast was the best breakfast I think I've ever had. ^ O^ The staff was also very friendly and accommodating.

I forgot to add that this ryokan accepts only 5 guests at a time. So book ahead of time because it's very popular! This ryokan has a long history but it was so clean and well kept.

This is the first time I've rode in both a Shinkansen (bullet train) and romance car! I have to thank Makoto for this....We took the Shinkansen there but it was only 30 minutes and we took the romance car back! I live very close to Atami so maybe I'll make a day trip sometime! I'm happy I got to have my second experience at an onsen!

I'll just post pictures now!

When we arrived in Atami we saw a free onsen foot bath in front of the shinkansen station! We had a few hours until we could check in so I suggested we soak our feet for a bit since it was cold and rainy.

Afterwards we dried our feet and took a short walk. Then we stopped inside a cute cafe!

After finishing our tea at the cafe, we headed toward the beach!

After the beach it was time to finally check into the Ryokan so we took a taxi there! It was pretty close and the taxi driver was very friendly. He told us places we should visit while we're in town and gave us other tips as well.9

When we got to the Ryokan, they asked us what time we would like to be served breakfast and dinner and then we dropped our bags off in our room. We immediately went back out and walked to the shrine next door. The shrine had a huge longevity tree that has been alive for 2,000 years! Apparently if you walk around the whole tree once, it adds a year to your life. So naturally we walked around the tree a few times!

Dinner time!
