Okay this is a re-post from my other blog. I actually made another blog not too long ago and I was going to write about detailed experiences I had while in Japan. I was also going to blog about my private life, since only my close friends and family had access to it. But keeping two blogs was hard work! So now I'll be transferring all my posts from that blog to this one. I was only able to write 13 posts in total so It won't be much transferring.
Once I'm done, I'm going to upload more stories about my time in Japan.
Not only will it give the reader an idea of what I was doing while there but also it'll help keep me motivated to keep saving money for when I move back to Japan in October.
Move in apartment fee's can be expensive in Tokyo!
Here we go! My first ball jointed doll *BJD*:
So for no apparent reason, I ended up taking the train to Akihabara ( the biggest electric town and the center of pop culture) in Tokyo and I stumbled across a huge advertisement with a BJD on it. A BJD stands for "ball-jointed doll" and it generally means any doll that has ball and socket joints.
I guess the advertisement (not shown in the picture I took above) really drew me in. I ended up going inside the building and I started checking each floor. At the time I was unsure what a BJD was so I was quite unsure as to what I was looking for. I finally found the floor that I believe was the right one. I saw different brands of BJD body parts, miniature clothes, wigs and shoes. They came in all shapes and colors and I was blown away. Especially by the prices! These things were so pricey! But when I saw the models that were all put together (not for sale) on display, I knew I wanted to buy one. So me being a total noob, the sales clerk helped me match up the sizes of the bodies with different heads, eye decals, clothes, etc. I was a bit confused at first but I ended up leaving very satisfied! Yeah sure my BJD isn't as fancy as the ones you find on Google that belong to master collectors but I wanted to start off small and simple. I also saved a lot of money!
Here is what I bought!
I still know very little about BJD so please bare with me.
I'm very pleased with how she looks. I ended up naming her Momo, named after my pet Marimo that my mom accidentally dropped down the sink drain. I decided to model Momo after the character "Chi" from the 2002 anime "Chobits". See the second to last picture.
I'm fond of my first BJD and I hope to collect more in the future!
