Some of you may already know the cute Japanese/Korean Valentine's day tradition. For those of you who are unaware, I'll explain it in a nutshell. Valentine's day in Japan is when girl's simply buy cheap chocolate for guy friends/co workers/bosses/ classmates (called "Giri-Choko ~obligation chocolate~") but they cook special chocolate in the kitchen the night before V-day for their special someone with a note inside the box (which is called "Honmei choko"). It's a special day for girls to treat their boyfriends/husbands or confess their love to or make a daring move to someone. Then a month after, there is a day called "white day" for guys to return the love to those girls. I'm not sure if it's the exact same way as in Korea..If you know the answer, please let me know! Anyway this holiday is a great way for girls/women to express their emotions. It is especially a wonderful holiday for women who are shy or not as aggressive. Valentine's day in America, well..."It's similar to every other day". <-- My Japanese friend Hiro says. So I got started making my chocolates & here is a first look. I'm not finished with decorating all of them yet..it took me two days to make most of them. By tomorrow morning I should be 100% complete! My dad taste tested one ...without my permission -__- so I'll ask him how they tasted in the morning! I'll post the finished result later! Goodnight! |
